MATITA
A modular language in timber, material and form
Designed by architect and designer Fabio Rotella for Foglie d’Oro, MATITA transforms the traditional timber surface into an adaptable architectural design system, bringing together geometry, materiality and Italian craftsmanship. Taking its name from the Italian word for pencil, MATITA transforms a simple linear form into a distinctive modular language, creating compositions that extend across flooring and boiserie.
A SYSTEM FOR CREATIVE FREEDOM
At the heart of MATITA is an extraordinary capacity for customisation, giving designers the freedom to explore material, colour and composition.
Available in American Walnut, European Walnut and Oak,
the 200 × 1000 mm modules can be interpreted through different configurations and combined with refined inserts and profiles in burnished brass, Carrara marble, Black Marquinia marble, maple and wenge.
Through variations in timber, finish, insert and layout, MATITA can generate an extensive range of geometric compositions, allowing each surface to respond to the architecture and material palette of an individual project.

FLOORING + BOISERIE
The modularity of MATITA allows its distinctive design language to move beyond the floor and onto vertical surfaces, creating considered continuity between flooring, walls and the wider interior.
From restrained timber compositions to more expressive combinations of wood, marble and metal, each application can be developed around the individual requirements and creative direction of a project.
MADE TO MEASURE
MATITA provides a framework for designers to explore composition rather than prescribe a single aesthetic. Timber species, finishes, profiles, inserts and installation patterns can be brought together in numerous combinations, creating bespoke architectural surfaces shaped by material, geometry and craftsmanship.
